TUIK: GDP increased by 11.0 percent in 2021

The annual GDP, obtained by the sum of four periods according to the production method, increased by 11.0% in 2021 compared to the previous year, as a chained volume index (2009=100).

According to the production method, GDP at current prices increased by 42.8% in 2021 compared to the previous year and reached 7 trillion 209 billion 40 million TL.

Gross Domestic Product per capita was 85 672 TL in 2021

In 2021, GDP per capita was calculated as 85 672 TL at current prices and 9 539 in US dollars.

Service activities increased by 21.1% in 2021

When the activities that make up the GDP are examined; As a chained volume index in 2021 compared to the previous year; service activities total value added 21.1%, other services 20.3%, information and communication activities 20.2%, professional, administrative and support service activities 17.3%, industry 16.6%, public administration, education, human health and social work activities increased by 7.0% and real estate activities by 3.5%. Finance and insurance activities decreased by 9.0%, the agriculture sector by 2.2% and the construction sector by 0.9%.

The estimation of Gross Domestic Product by production method increased by 51.8% in the fourth quarter of 2021 at current prices compared to the same quarter of the previous year and became 2 trillion 313 billion 810 million TL. The fourth quarter value of GDP was 198 billion 968 million dollars in current prices.

Household final consumption expenditures increased by 15.1% in 2021

Final consumption expenditures of resident households increased by 15.1% in 2021 compared to the previous year chained volume index. The share of household consumption expenditures in GDP was 55.1%.

Final consumption expenditures of resident households increased by 21.4% as a chained volume index in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The final consumption expenditures of the government decreased by 1.9% and the gross fixed capital formation decreased by 0.8%.

Exports of goods and services increased by 24.9% and imports by 2.0% in 2021

According to the chained volume index of the previous year, exports of goods and services increased by 24.9% and imports by 2.0% in 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, exports of goods and services increased by 20.7% as a chained volume index, while imports increased by 2.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Labor payments increased by 31.4% in 2021

While labor payments increased by 31.4% in 2021 compared to the previous year, net operating surplus/mixed income increased by 53.2%. In the fourth quarter of 2021, labor payments increased by 37.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, while net operating surplus/mixed income increased by 62.9%.

In 2021, the share of labor payments in Gross Value Added was 30.2%

While the share of labor payments in Gross Value Added at current prices was 33.1% last year, this rate became 30.2% in 2021. The share of net operating surplus/mixed income increased from 49.3% to 52.6%.
